Glue, Porno and A decent Ride starring the hilarious Juice Terry Lawson are magnificent as already pointed out earlier in the thread. Trainspotting the novel was amazing. Maribou, Ecstasy etc are all superb

Just re-reading Bedroom Secrets of the MasterChefs and the sentence "It was more of a square go than a shag" takes some fucking beating. Irvine Welsh is a fucking genius

He's in a couple of others too iirc, definitely skagboys and reheated cabbage. Great character. Sickboy is still my favourite though.

I would vote for Filth followed by Marabou Stork Nightmares. I liked Skagboys as well.

Re: Trainspotting The Film...
Filth is his best book as far as I'm concerned. That said anything that has Juice Terry (the greatest carbonated drinks salesman that Edinburgh ever had) is great as well. Makes his debut in Glue and also features in Porno and A Decent Ride.

The Acid House was on Film4 the other night - Another Irvine Welsh film - and very close to Trainspotting it terms of charachter and location. Foooked up.

Great film,do people live like that?yes they do,I had a friend I grew up with we started going to home games when we were twelve.
He was a funny fucker and a good friend for years,he got on the brown and overdosed at 19 years old.
Such a sad loss but he loved the drug.
RIP RG.

I've chatted with Irvine Welsh a few times on Twitter.
Proper nice bloke, and a Hammer too.

Re: Trainspotting The Film...
Yes Ted, like that and worse.

Now you realise just how much of a diamond geezer Trevor Morley is. He runs a norwegian shelter for junkies. Proper hands on. He occasionally does tv pundit work, when West Ham play, but his day job and "normal" life is trying to help these poor fuckers help themselves. He decided to do that after a good friend of his got hooked and he saw what it can do to good men.

Irvine Welsh's best book is Marabou Stork Nightmares.

Re: Trainspotting The Film...
Yes Ted..... people do live like that.....And far worse too
I occasionally come across these 'alternative' lifestyles in my line of work, and....
No smackheads are ever as glamorous or good looking as Ewan McGregor......
And the Mother Superiors gaff/shooting gallery is far too tidy.

I enjoyed Filth, thought McAvoy did a decent job, plus I love the ending
